The technology and services are built on industry-standard protocols and use best practices in development. Full redundancies exist across service carriers, data centers, software, and service locations.
We have invested significantly in the operational modeling to ensure we would deliver the highest value to our clients and ensure the lowest ongoing operating costs to the marketplace. We focused on usability and the use of a self-service model to connect numerous communication devices. And the service had to support the continuous change required to address today’s reality of a highly mobile population.
Product Components
2Unify has been built on best practices for the Web, VoIP, open source code bases, and application hosting services. Usability was the key measure for the system’s success. Consequently, the system was designed to be very quick to use, require minimal technical capabilities and be highly intuitive. 2Unify’s patent pending approach to the business problem has led to a revolutionary approach to the technical components and resources required to provide a service.
Architecture High-Level Snapshot
The infrastructure was architected with multiple layers for both physical and logical redundancies. The system and the infrastructure have vertical and horizontal scaling capabilities.
The network topology is an Ethernet Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) network. Using an object-oriented approach, the major components that make up the system are loosely coupled and highly cohesive. The Web application servers are clustered on the network to provide instant transaction-level fail-over.
Voice calls hare handled using a cluster of VoIP switches that manage calls to the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) using Session Initiated Protocol (SIP) VoIP packets. This eliminates the typical bottleneck caused when converting calls to traditional voice circuits before handing off to the telephone carriers.
This implementation of this VoIP architecture has handled 20,000 to 30,000 users inside enterprises and large universities. With the architectural enhancements we’ve made and the patented scaling improvements there is no known top limit.
Security and Privacy
Member privacy is foundational for the system. This architecture leverages Web services and pages over Secure Socket Layer (SSL). Using 256-bit encryption, we ensure that information is kept private between your browser and our Web servers.

The servers are protected with firewalls and a minimalist approach to open ports and services. All access modes, such as telephone and Web are protected with a multi-layered authorization model using both passwords and personal identification numbers (PIN). |
Operations and Controls
2Unify’s operational controls and monitoring capabilities allow for virtually immediate provisioning of additional capacity to any component of the system or infrastructure before it could become a service effecting condition. The 2Unify system has been demonstrated through our successful delivery of 3 major and 10 minor releases this year. Archiving, back-out procedures, porting, testing and documentation are all in place and in use at this time. Offsite storage of code and processes are maintained and operated on a daily schedule whenever there is change. Supplier contracts and service level agreements are in place to ensure availability of necessary services.
